About the Artist
In confronting my own mental health struggles, I have discovered an outlet in escapism amidst the dawning frontiers of a new age. My work centers around western expansion, resembling my own relocation, while haunted by an unprecedented foreboding. In creating points of insertion, encourages the viewer to immerse in this environment and participate on this journey into the daunting unknown.

About the Work
Red Moon Rising and Horse that Wears Sheeps Clothes explores ideas of escapism and Thomas's experience with the West. Exploring ideas of the Americana, Manifest Destiny and the proverbial West, these themes come to life three-dimensionally with the use of wood, found objects, and metal. Her sculptures immerse viewers and invite them to a phantasmagorical narrative, while inviting them to engage introspectively.
A story of the West and an impending future is depicted through the use of etched copper, found objects, and wood in a two-part installation that physically moves viewers into perspective. Specific imagery engraved on the copper includes idealistic images of western expansion and two cowboys with three horses awaiting an almost apocalyptic image seeking them from above the mountain ridges. Horse tack adorns the surrounding space to further immerse the viewer into the explorative story of escaping and entering a new era.
